Fun, Swirly merigues. A sweet recipe.

Today I'll be showing you a recipe for swirly meringues, a sweet treat,

To make this, you will need:

(makes 12 merigues)

50g plain chocolate drops,

 2 medium eggs,
100g caster sugar.

1. Heat the oven to 110C / 225F gas mark 1/2. lay two baking trays on baking parchment.
Draw around them. Cut out the shapes and lay them on baking trays.

2. Pour about 5cm water into a saucepan. Heat the water until it bubbles, then take the pan off the heat. Put the chocolate drops into a heatproof bowl.

3. Carefully, put the bowl inside the pan. Stir the chocolate until it has melted. Then rake the bowl out of the pan and leave it to cool while you make the merigues.

4. To separate the egg white from the the yolk, break one egg on the edge of the bowl. Silde the egg slowly onto a small plate. Then, put the egg up over the yolk.

 5. Hold the egg cup and tip the plate over the bowl, so that the egg white dribbles into it. Do the same with the other egg, so that both the whites are in the bowl.

6. Whisk the egg whites with a whisk until they are really thick. When you lift the whisk up, the egg whites should make stiff peaks.

7. Add a heaped teaspoon of sugar to the egg whites. Whisk it in well. Keep adding spoonfuls of sugar and whisking them in, until you have added all the sugar.

8. Drizzle teaspoons of the melted chocolate over the top of the merigue mixture. Stir the mixture once of twice to marble it with the chocolate.

9. Scoop up the merigue mixture with a dessertspoon. Then using a teaspoon, push the misture off onto one of the baking trays.

10. Make eleven more merigues and put them in the oven to bake for 40 minutes. Turn off the oven and leave them inside. After 15 minutes, take them out to cool.

Well done! You have made swirly merigues! :D
